Get To Know Me

I'm Hanna and I am the president of West Coast Cane Corso Rescue! I have been running WCCCR since 2018, after being handed it over from Alexia Rodriguez of Potrerok9.
I have always been a dog and animal lover. I grew up in Mammoth Lakes Ca - a ski resort nestled deep in the Eastern Sierra. We had a lot of outdoor activities, and everyone had a dog, but there were no dog clubs, no trainers , no dog events for hundreds of miles, but we did have animal shelter. If you wanted to spend time with dogs, you volunteered at the shelter and that's exactly what I did. Eventually, that led me to also helping the dogs in my community and thus, embracing a rescue mentality.
Through the years I took on many dogs from hard situations, like a Boerboel named Banshee, however, my life changed after I rescued a blind, emaciated , 14 year old English Pointer who had been tied to a tree. His story made local news, yet no one saved him, so I did and that made state headlines. After that, I received a call from Big Paws Rescue in Las Vegas- they asked me if I wanted to take on a Neapolitan Mastiff named Emmet. His owner died and the rescue was considering keeping him, but they had 3 Cane Corso and they were all fighting with the Neo. That was the first time I had ever heard of the breed.
I took on the Neo, began advocating for the breed and working along side other breed enthusiast. When Emmet passed, I decided to venture into Cane Corso.
I actually contacted West Coast Cane Corso Rescue to inquire about rescuing, however they had no dogs available. That's when I began researching the breed, and I searched for "ethical and responsible breeders". Thats when I found Alexia Rodriguez, the original founder of WCCCR and Potrero Performance Dogs.
I dove deep into Cane Corso and with the help of help of Alexia- I learned the ins and outs of every aspect of the Cane Corso- from rescue to the importance of training to preserving and protecting our breed. Not only have I walked into shelters and saved hundreds of them - I have also walked alongside my own dog at Westminster.
West Coast Cane Corso Rescue is comprised of Cane Corso Enthusiasts! In 2023. We partnered with Max Tran of Top of the Hill Rescue , with his 20 years experience behind Cane Corso, state of the art kennels, and full time staff, we have the ability to save more dogs!
Long live the Cane Corso!
